SNL star Colin Jost sent back to New York from NBC Olympics reporting role and replaced after schedule chaos

NBC has sent a new face to cover surfing at the Paris Olympics after Scarlett Johansson’s husband Colin Jost was sent back home to New York.
Channel 9 Gold Coast weatherman Luke Bradnam will now be on the call for the surfing events taking place in Tahiti .
Jost was called back home after the surfing competition took a two-day break due to a lack of swell, meaning very poor or flat on Surfline’s rating system.
Bradnam got the call to fill in while covering surfing in the area for Channel 9.
“I got a phone call as the surfing came back online, it was literally just, ‘Colin’s not able to work it, could you please fill in for us?’,” Bradnam told the Sydney Morning Herald .
“What the f**k? Sure,” he told the outlet.
Bradnam joked that he was unsure if Americans could even understand his accent while reporting on the surfing events.
“Now I’m doing these crosses, they’ve got no idea who I am, I’ve done three crosses already today and I’ve covered the Americans today,” the Australian weatherman said.
“If I don’t get an invite to the NBC Christmas party after this, it won’t be pretty,” Bradnam joked.
Channel 9’s weatherman will be joined by the station’s cameraman, Jack Marriott, while covering the rest of the surfing events from Tahiti.
It has not been revealed why Jost did not return to his hosting duties.
The Saturday Night Live star had come down with an ear infection and also picked up a staph infection after slicing his foot on the reef .
The comedian gave fans a description of what happened to his foot in an interview with NBC’s Mike Tirico.
“I think I did pretty well until the first wave then I pretty much ended up standing on the coral reef,” Jost said .
“And so I got a little bit, a little scraped up.”
He continued to joke about the injury on his social media.
