    Islanders Announce Play It Forward Winners, Continuing To Grow Game In Community

    The New York Islanders excel at being a valuable part of the community.

    For the last two seasons, the Islanders, in partnership with Norwell Health, have selected three children to take part in their Play It Forward Program, which covers the cost for three years of Learn To Play programs, helping to grow the game in underserved communities.

    On Monday, the Islanders announced the three winners for 2024, all from the Freeport school district: Nine-year-old third grader Andres Collado, eight-year-old fourth grader Yosahanny Nehring Avila, and eight-year-old third grader Valentina Rivera:

    Learn To Play programs have been a staple of the Islanders, with special coaches like Bobby Nystrom, Matt Moulson, and other alumni lending a helping hand to make a difference.
