Once asking $150M, this Hamptons beach mansion is available — for many millions less

Just in time for the summer season, a massive oceanfront Hamptons estate is unofficially on the market for $85 to $90 million.

The seller is Barton “Mark” Perlbinder, a third-generation New York real estate scion.

The Sagaponack home, at 635 Daniels Lane, sits on 5.1 acres by Truman Capote’s former spread. It includes 357 feet on the ocean, and borders a preserved Peconic Land Trust area.

Perlbinder and his brother Stephen have been involved in an epic family feud. In 2021, Stephen accused him in Manhattan Supreme Court of using Perlbinder Realty family real estate assets like a “piggy bank” to pay for his lavish lifestyle.

Some sources tell Gimme Shelter the brothers are getting along better now.

Still, insiders say that Mark Perlbinder is in a bind and needs to sell. Others say it’s just time — and the price is now more “realistic.”

That’s because the house was asking a grand $150 million last year in what’s known as a “pocket” or “whisper” listing, meaning it’s not publicly listed for sale.

“Like now, that number was never written anywhere, but that’s the number that was circulating,” an insider said. “Now it’s time to sell the house and move on. It came time for a serious conversation for finding a buyer and coming up with a more realistic price.”

The steel, brick and concrete home is close to 14,000 square feet with walls of glass overlooking the ocean.

There are 10 bedrooms, 12 baths, two powder rooms, a rooftop terrace and a five-car garage. Design details include exposed brick, beamed ceilings, double-height great rooms and a burnt orange eat-in chef’s kitchen. There’s even a second professional-grade kitchen inside, that one more stainless steel in its look.

Outside, there’s a pool, a tennis court and a greenhouse.

The land was purchased around 60 years ago and first developed with the help of designer John Saladino — with a full 10,000-square-foot addition by the renowned architect Peter Marino in 2005, sources said.

Perlbinder’s “legal and financial woes” include a 2014 arrest for allegedly picking up cocaine and illegal prescription drugs in the Hamptons, according to reports.

Stephen is said to own a nearby home and the brothers share a field in front of the properties. Neither one of the Perlbinders, nor Mark’s lawyer, returned calls.
