We’ve all heard of people asking for an upgrade to first class so they can have more legroom, but how about extra ‘bumproom’?
That’s exactly what one pregnant woman tried to do on a recent flight after she realized she “barely fit” in her assigned economy seat.
Taking to TikTok , an onlooker shared the tense interaction between the mom-to-be and a frustrated flight attendant as she tried to convince her to let her sit at the front of the plane.
“If you understood where I was coming from, you would let me sit down,” the heavily pregnant woman said to the flight attendant.
“I’m so uncomfortable, I barely fit in the seat, and I just wanna sit here,” she continues, gesturing to an empty first class seat beside her.
The flight attendant responds: “I get what you’re saying but the people in first class have paid five times the normal seat.”
“I’m not asking to take somebody else’s seat, I’m asking to sit in an open seat because I’m incredibly uncomfortable, I’m high risk, I probably shouldn’t even be flying in the first place,” the pregnant woman replies.
The attendant then tells the woman that if she lets her take the seat, she will lose her job but if she could, she would.
“I’m a woman, just like you, I’ve been there,” she says reassuringly while still remaining firm on the airline’s policy.
Eventually, the other airline passengers get so fed up with the scene the woman is making that someone in first class offers to give up their seat for her.
“Was she not pregnant when she booked her original seat?” one said.
Another questioned: “Why does she think this is other people’s problem?”
And a third asked: “If she wanted to sit in first class, why didn’t she just book it?” and a fourth pointed out: “Why are no other employees backing up this staff member?”
Meanwhile, others said they were “so over entitled people” and “take the seat you paid for.”
However, some argued that the flight attendant should have just let her sit there.
“She’s pregnant, got uncomfortable and saw an open seat. Why can’t she sit in it? Is she harming other people?” wrote one.
And a different user replied: “What is wrong with this flight attendant arguing with a pregnant woman!”
“It’s not going to affect the flight. They didn’t sell the seats,” another TikToker concluded.

If you need to fly in business or,first class you make the appropriate reservation and pay for the seat. She confessed she was far enough along in her pregnancy, she probably shouldn’t be flying then stay home. Instead she makes it everyone else’s problem, not caring if the employee could lose their job. It is manipulative and demeaning for everyone. Nice lady to trade seats with her,
