Two years following the passing of Ivana Trump, her ornate East 64th Street townhouse remains for sale — and it has seen yet another price cut, according to StreetEasy records.
The opulence of the home — specifically, Trump’s personal flair — is immediately evident upon entry. A crystal chandelier illuminates the gallery, adorned with custom gilded paneling.
The late Trump, who passed away on July 14, 2022 at age 73, was found at the bottom of the grand staircase in this home. The 8,725-square-foot spread was long a sanctuary.
“My mom absolutely loved that house,” her son, Eric Trump, previously told the Wall Street Journal.
The dining room features walls draped in gold fabric and a striking chandelier overhead. Two tables, one round and one rectangular, are paired with tall-backed chairs upholstered in a warm yellow.
A white grand piano stands between the two rooms. Although Trump never tickled the ivories herself, she often hired professional pianists to entertain guests at her parties.
The third floor, meanwhile, houses a standout library that’s almost entirely adorned in leopard print. Spotted wallpaper and upholstery dominate the room, accompanied by a painting of two leopards playing and a framed photograph of Trump hugging a young Ivanka. Gold accents fill the spaces not covered in animal print. A doll resembling Ms. Trump — one that’s complete with blond hair, an embellished silver jacket and a fur stole — rests on the sofa.
Trump, the Czech-American businesswoman and socialite, purchased the historic limestone townhouse for $2.5 million in 1992 after her divorce from the former president. That’s around $5.4 million in today’s money.
Over the decades, she transformed the 17-room, 20-foot-wide property — with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms — into a maximalist haven.
Elsewhere, there are pink mirrored baths and a Versailles-inspired dining room. Ivana famously described one living room in her 2017 book “ Raising Trump ” as “how Louis XVI would have lived if he had had money.”
A woman living in such lavish settings would surely have clothes to match. Trump’s closet, as described in her book, is exceptionally large, giving the impression it extends indefinitely.
“I call it Indochine, because by the time you get to the end of it, you might as well be in another continent,” she wrote.
At the back of the house, a south-facing garden and a terrace connected to the primary bedroom receive abundant sunlight during the day.
“She used to go out on the private balcony every morning with coffee and she’d read the paper,” Eric Trump told the outlet for the 2022 story.
Eric recalled that he and his siblings spent their teenage years living in the townhouse, cherishing memories of family conversations around the dining room table and his mother’s parties, which often included famous actors and even royalty.
Trump eventually transformed Donald Trump Jr.’s old bedroom into a gym. From her treadmill, she could see into the home of fashion designer Donatella Versace, who lived across the street.
According to Eric, his mother would wave to Versace during her workouts. “They loved each other,” he said.
