The USWNT is in the hunt for a fifth Olympic gold medal, but to win it, they’ll have to beat one of their most frequent rivals: Brazil.
This gold medal game between Team USA and Brazil is the third time the countries have met in the women’s soccer tournament finals at the Olympics; in 2004 and 2008, the USWNT brought home the gold.
The USWNT punched their ticket to the finals in dramatic fashion . A late goal from Sophia Smith put them on the board against Germany and an equally late save from Alyssa Naeher kept their 1-0 lead intact.
