Malik Nabers won’t practice Monday with the Giants but is day to day and has not been ruled out for Saturday’s preseason game against the Texans.

The initial diagnosis of a mild ankle sprain remains the same.

Bobby Okereke is the stabilizing, consistent ‘centerpiece’ Giants need

Nabers went down during Sunday’s practice , took off his left shoe as trainers looked him over and spent the last 20 minutes of practice off his feet before limping back to the locker room.

Head coach Brian Daboll won’t take the extra caution of holding Nabers out of practices once he is cleared to return, believing the dynamic rookie receiver benefits from easing his learning curve with more time on the field.

“They are still doing evaluation on him, but he’s a little sore today so we will back off him.” Daboll said on Monday.

Daboll, who essentially ruled out a worst-case scenario fracture, said Nabers got “twisted up” running but did not get stepped on.
