Plus-sized Disney influencers body-shamed by radio hosts: ‘People forget that we’re just normal people’

The magic was lost.
A group of plus-sized Disney park influencers based in Massachusetts were relentlessly teased for their weight by a Boston sports radio show where calling them “fatsos” was one of the weaker insults.
The smirking hosts also cracked jokes about going dumpster-diving for day-old food at the park and crassly suggested the group could “sit in the water” like seals to be fed fish.
Many came to the defense of Plus Sized Park Hoppers after the radio segment. The group uses their social media accounts to celebrate their otherwise happy travels (above) to Disney. Instagram /@plussizeparkhoppers
Hosts Fred Toucher and Rob “Hardy” Poole of 98.5 The Sports Hub have come under fire for the vile commentary made about the five ladies who run “Plus Sized Park Hoppers” during their show.
Previously, comedians Tim Dillon and Tom Segura also took demoralizing digs at them.
“People forget that we’re just normal people trying to put more good into the world,” said Lanciani.
The group was ridiculed after posting a video about getting a rash at Disney. They revealed scary red abrasions in the clip; they said the injuries were “caused by heat and exercise.” Instagram /@plussizeparkhoppers
“All we’re trying to do is help other people know that they belong in public and to enjoy their lives. And to hear people like Tom Segura, who said we should eat on the floor of a barn until we’re an acceptable size, it hurts.”
Public figures are just the tip of the iceberg, it seems: The park hoppers are getting tons of everyday hate from folks online, according to Lanciani.
“Honestly, I’m a bit naïve. I didn’t expect all the hate because it’s, like, this is just who we are and who we’ve always been,” she said.
In the wake of their posts, the group has backlash online, as well as support. “People forget that we’re just normal people trying to put more good into the world,” said one of the park hoppers. Instagram /@plussizeparkhoppers
But in a fairy tale-esque way, supporters of the page — many who felt encouraged to travel to Disney despite their size — rallied during the hoppers’ time of need, warding off online trolls.
“The Disney community really came together for us during this time and showed us so much support.”
The latest example was no different.
Beyond calling out “Toucher and Hardy,” fans of the hoppers have been knocking down the radio station’s door for a public apology, tagging them across social media.
“How horrifying!!!” one person wrote.
“Who the hell do you think you are that makes it okay to talk about people like this! You are disgusting,” added another.
