The maniac who allegedly shouted, “Free Palestine!” before viciously stabbing a Jewish man in the stomach Saturday has been ordered held on $100,000 cash bail on multiple hate-crime charges.
Vincent Sumpter, 22, of Brooklyn was reportedly “looking for trouble” when he approached Yechiel Dabrowskin around 2 a.m. near the Chabad Headquarters in Crown Heights, yelling antisemitic slurs and asking, “Do you want to die?” before lashing out with his blade.
“It’s very, very painful,” Dabrowskin told Israel’s Kan 11 News of his wounds after the attack. “I had internal bleeding, but thank God I had a miracle.”
Dabrowskin said the knife came “very close to my heart.’’
The suspect was tackled in the aftermath and arrested.

Sumpter, who law-enforcement sources said has no prior criminal record in New York City, faces a slew of second- and third-degree assault and menacing charges in the attack, with four of the counts to be prosecuted as hate crimes.
So far this year, 229 antisemitic hate crimes have been reported to the NYPD through last Sunday, according to NYPD data.
By that time last year, 126 such incidents were reported.
The notable rise comes after the Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel where Hamas killed 1,200 people and kidnapped more than 200, leading the Jewish state to launch a military campaign in Gaza.
Mark Treygar, the CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, condemned the latest instance of violence against Jewish city dwellers in a post on X.
He called it an “abhorrent and abominable attack” and stressed the assault shouldn’t be seen as an isolated incident.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the stabbing is “deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable.

“This horrifying act of antisemitism has no place in our society,” the Brooklyn pol tweeted.
New York Attorney General Letitia James added on X, “This is a horrifying act of antisemitism and violence that will not be tolerated in New York.
“I am thankful that the victim will be physically okay, but we cannot stay silent as this hate continues in our city and our country,’’ she wrote.
A witness previously told Freedom New TV the alleged attacker was “looking for trouble” leading up to the stabbing.
“It does make me a bit worried, but at the same time I’m comfortable here,” the man said.
“I do watch my back in general, but at the same time, it’s making you just be more wary and make sure there’s nothing happening behind you and you suddenly turn around and there’s a guy about to stab you.”
It was not known if Sumpter had obtained a lawyer.
