The Mets had a grueling West Coast road trip that saw them go 4-6.

They now return to Citi Field to try and turn things around with a nine-game homestand.

The Yankees are coming off a brutal 12-2 loss to the White Sox on Monday after a series win over the Rangers.

The Yankees are atop the AL Wild Card and a half game back of the Orioles in the AL East.

Mets check in on Cubs’ Jameson Taillon ahead of MLB trade deadline

The Mets are one game behind the Braves for the third NL Wild Card spot.

The playoff race is tight with over six weeks to go in the regular season.

One of those teams hanging around in the NL Wild Card is the Cubs. One of their best starting pitchers, Jameson Taillon, joined Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman this week on “The Show.”

Trade deadline’s rotation market has major Garrett Crochet question

“The Show” podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:
    • PADRES SUCCESS: A.J. Preller knows what he’s doing when he makes moves at the deadline. They go for it. They end up finding ways to re-stock the farm system and make it work.
    • WILD CARD RACE: Mets need to fight and start beating better teams. Have to beat the A’s and Marlins this week.
    • AARON JUDGE: Breaking down his greatness, Reggie Jackson putting him in the class of Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron and teams intentionally walking him.

    • TRADE DEADLINE: Wasn’t sure if he was going to get moved or not. Happy to stay in Chicago. Going through his no-trade list and why he has it.
    • LIFE IN CHICAGO: Will be spending more time in Arizona this offseason. Facilities are amazing in Chicago and Chicago in the summer is tough to beat. More of an NY style pizza guy.
    • CUBS PLAYOFF POTENTIAL: Know they can play with anyone in the league. Have to play well consistently. They have a good rotation. Lineup is deep. They still have life.
    • HIS JOURNEY: Struggles and health stuff has made him who he is today. After two Tommy John surgeries, has been able to make around 30 starts a year.
    • AARON BOONE: Not afraid to be honest with you and tell it how it is. In front of the media is where he will always back his players. They do watch the interviews and press conferences.
