Trader Joe’s is urgently recalling about 653,000 Mango Tangerine Scented Candles nationwide due to “safety risk” from an “unexpected burn pattern,” the company announced Thursday.

According to a notice published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the candle flame can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger flame than expected and “posing a fire hazard.”

Though the official recall date issued by the CPSC is Thursday, August 15, the Trader Joe’s website states it was initially recalled in June, but it does not specify how many were sold or if there were any incident reports.

Meanwhile, the CPSC reported that there were 14 reported incidents of high flames, including three reports of minor property damage and two reports of minor burns.
