Jesse Malin is continuing to heal after being left partially paralyzed following a spinal stroke in May 2023.
The punk rocker took to social media on Thursday to share his recovery journey with followers.
“Hey everybody,” Malin said in his Instagram video while holding onto a walker. “I just want to give you guys an update. It’s been a while, and I’ve been working real hard with my therapist here in New York and in Argentina. I’m back, and they got me out of the chair a lot of the day, out of the wheelchair and up on the walker, and it feels good to be up.”

The 57-year-old noted that while he “can’t feel below my upper thighs still,” he is working on it.
“It’s weird walking without any feeling. I have these braces below my knees, and that helps, and I get around doing this a little bit a few times a day, so it’s getting a little better. I’m on it, just working it,” Malin continued.
Giving a nod to the “really good people that come help me out,” the guitarist shared that he “just wanted to say thank you.”

He also thanked his fans for their support throughout this difficult time.
“All the support, all you guys,” Malin expressed. “All the letters and the notes and the love and support of my music still. It’s been a while, and I miss it, and I can’t wait to see you at the Beacon Theater show in New York City.”
On December 1, the D Generation singer will perform live for the first time since his injury, a moment he’s looking forward to greatly.

“I wanted to give you guys an update,” he captioned the post. “Everyone has been so supportive and loving in ways that only the music community can bring. You guys are the best sending you tons of love and gratitude.”

“I can’t wait to see you all at the Beacon theater. @beacon theatre in December also huge Big Thanks to my NYC and Argentine Angels ( therapists and doctors ). @sweetreliefmusiciansfund as well. I will keep fighting and working to recover. Have a great day Doctors.”
He said he and his former bandmates were marking the first anniversary of his friend and bass player Howie Pyro’s death when he felt a burning pain shoot down to his hips.
“Everybody was standing above me like in Rosemary’s Baby, saying all these different things, and I was there not knowing what was going on with my body,” Malin recalled to Rolling Stone .
The rocker continued, “This is the hardest six weeks that I’ve ever had. I’m told that they don’t really understand it, and they’re not sure of the chances.”
“The reports from the doctors have been tough, and there’s moments in the day where you want to cry, and where you’re scared,” Malin added. “But I keep saying to myself that I can make this happen. I can recover my body.”
