A bad night’s sleep will likely keep Alex Bregman out for the weekend.

The Astros’ star third baseman is suffering from a swollen elbow after sleeping awkwardly on his arm “a few days ago,” according to a report from The Athletic on Friday .

An MRI didn’t reveal any damage on his elbow, but he’s still going to take some time off to shake the injury.

“It’s just something I’m going to have to take a few days for,” Bregman said. “Obviously, it’s pretty unfortunate because I’m swinging the bat well right now … It’s not that I couldn’t play through it anymore, it’s just that I need to nip it in the bud.”

Bregman, a two-time All-Star, is having a down year by his standards but has been much improved since a miserable start.

After hitting just .216/.283/.294 with one homer through April, Bregman has slashed .274/.328/.488 with 18 long balls since the calendar turned over to May.

Besides a hamstring injury that plagued him from 2020-21, Bregman, 30, has consistently been on the field for Houston throughout his nine-year career, playing in 150 or more games in five of the last seven seasons since his abbreviated rookie year in 2016.

Bregman is set to become a free agent this offseason and is expected to be one of the most sought-after position players on the market.

The Astros bounced back from a rough start as Bregman heated up.

Houston heads into Friday’s play at 65-55, three games up on the Mariners in the American League West.

The Astros are looking to make their eighth straight ALCS and win their third World Series since 2017.
