The plastic cups feature a range of beloved nostalgic characters, including Barbie and Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty and Peanuts, McDonald’s characters, and a combination of Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions.
The fast-food chain rolled out the meal on Aug. 13, and each meal comes with one of the six collectible cups. However, the freebies are now being resold for a pretty penny, ranging up to thousands of dollars.
When customers get the cups with their meals, they are wrapped and sealed in blue plastic so as to not give away the theme right away. It seems a few sellers on eBay are selling them still wrapped in plastic so the buyer doesn’t know exactly what they’re getting.
In an extreme case, one seller on eBay has a sealed single collector’s cup listed for $42,069.
A set of two of the Coca-Cola cups is listed for $89, while prices for individual cups range widely.
For single-sealed cups, one is going for $1,300, another for $500, and another for $150. A single Coca-Cola-themed cup is listed for $300 and a single Hello Kitty & Snoopy is priced at $250. There are also listings for a single Grimace cup is $75 and one Hello Kitty & Peanuts cup is set at $62.
Meanwhile, a Shrek, Jurassic Park & Minions cup sold for $11.
The collector meal comes with one cup and the option of a Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwich, Hash Brown and Hot Coffee during breakfast hours, or the choice of a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac with fries and a soft drink throughout the rest of the day.
