Bodies of tech tycoon Mike Lynch, daughter Hannah recovered from doomed Bayesian yacht: report

The two bodies found inside the wreckage of the Bayesian superyacht have been identified as British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his teenage daughter, Hannah, according to a report.

Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter’s bodies were found inside one of the ship’s cabins and brought to shore Wednesday as two additional bodies were discovered by search teams, according to the Telegraph and the Independent.

The two other bodies, which are now being recovered by divers, have not been identified, according to reports.

Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, and 14 others, including a 1-year-old child,managed to escape the sinking ship before it capsized.

Lynch, who was once dubbed “Britain’s Bill Gates,” was throwing a party aboard his yacht to celebrate his victory in a US fruad trial. His guests included lawyers from the firm that represented him, as well as friends and allies who suported him through the legal battle.

The wealthy tech founder was acquitted just two months ago by a San Francisco jury of fraud charges linked to the sale of his software company, Autonomy, to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion in 2011. The sale quickly turned sour after HP wrote down Autonomy’s value by $8.8 billion.

Dive teams have been searching for the missing passengers, including Morgan Stanley chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife, Judy Bloomer, New York City lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his jewelry designer wife Neda Morvillo.

The British-flagged Bayesian superyacht was carrying 22 people when it was anchored off the port of Porticello and capsized during a powerful and sudden tornado early Monday.

Fifteen people survived, while the body of the onboard cook, Recaldo Thomas, was found near the wreck hours after the vessel sank.

Several search boats could be seen leaving the port of Porticello to go to the site of the sinking around 3:30 p.m. local time Wednesday as news of the latest discovery was shared, according to the reports.

Diving teams were also seen taking a green body bag back to the port , where dozens of emergency services staff were waiting.

The search for the missing passengers has proven to be a “long and complex” operation, Italian fire officials said.

The sunken ship is lying sideways about 50 meters underwater, with inside spaces obstructed by furniture and debris.

Given the depth of the vessel, by the time divers reach the wreckage, they have about 10 minutes of air left to search before needing to return to the surface.

The search for the two passengers still missing is ongoing.
