Luis Gil goes on IL in blow to Yankees rotation

The Yankees rotation took a hit Wednesday, as the Yankees put Luis Gil on the 15-day IL after the right-hander left his start on Tuesday with lower back tightness.

Rookie right-hander Will Warren was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Gil’s spot on the roster, and perhaps the rotation.

The potential return of Clarke Schmidt from the IL should help at some point and Gil was already pushing up against a possible innings limit.
