Observations from Giants training camp on Wednesday:

    Bell’ of the ball

TE Daniel Bellinger broke free up the seam and hauled in a touchdown pass from Tommy DeVito. It was one of the most open windows the Giants quarterbacks had all day and it bodes well for Bellinger’s ability to become more of a threat as a receiver.

What was that? Oh, just another deep ball completed over the top of the Giants secondary. The Jets fans had plenty of chances to cheer, seeing their wide receivers run past defensive backs Nick McCloud, Darnay Holmes, Tre Hawkins and sometimes Deonte Banks, with the DBs often badly trailing the play.

When there was solid coverage (and a Bobby Okereke interception of Aaron Rodgers), rookie Dru Phillips was called for a holding penalty.

What is it about these joint practices and RB Eric Gray getting blasted? Gray was almost decleated by S Chuck Clark during the red-zone period, with Gray knocked to the grass by the hit.

    Injury report

QB Drew Lock did not participate in any of the team drills as he recovers from a hip issue. Starting guard Jon Runyan Jr. did not even make the bus ride to this practice, as he is dealing with a shoulder injury — though coach Brian Daboll said Runyan should be fine for the season-opener.
