Meghan McCain slams ‘insensitive’ Blake Lively for her ‘strange’ promotion of ‘It Ends with Us’

Meghan McCain is jumping on the Blake Lively hate train.
The political commentator, 39, called Lively, 36, “insensitive” for how she’s handled the topic of domestic violence while promoting her new film “It Ends with Us.”
“If you’re taking on the responsibility of telling the story about a woman in a domestic violence situation, you have to be respectful that you’re representing millions and millions of women and men who are victims of domestic violence,” McCain said on Wednesday’s episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast.
“I was very surprised at some of her responses,” she added.
Lively has been criticized for failing to discuss the film’s domestic violence theme and instead promoting her new hair care line , Blake Brown Beauty, and her floral fashions.
“I think the tone she’s setting in a lot of the press with this, saying, put on your florals and come together girls,” McCain said while criticizing Lively.
“I haven’t read the book either,” the Republican blogger continued. “I didn’t know this is about domestic violence until this press tour. I don’t want to put florals on and go with my girlfriends and go watch a fun girl movie about domestic violence. I think that’s very insensitive and very, quite frankly, strange.”
McCain went on about Lively, “I don’t understand why she’s famous other than ‘Gossip Girl’ and married to Ryan Reynolds. I can’t actually think of any movies she’s been in or projects she’s worked in.”
The former “The View” host said said that Lively is “in such a high-level privilege situation” as “a beautiful, blonde white woman,” and that the actress “might have done real damage to her career” based on the extreme backlash toward her handling of the film’s promotion.
“That doesn’t mean that she’s going to go away,” McCain added, “but I think that some humility and some research on what you’re representing would be prudent.”
“I’m also just f–king sick of hearing about Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. I feel like I hear about them all the time,” McCain also said. “I think that’s a dangerous spot for any celebrity or any person in the public eye. I’m just sick of hearing about both of them.”
In addition to the criticism of Lively’s comments on the “It Ends with Us” press tour, there are also rumors that she feuded with co-star and director Justin Baldoni on the set of the film.
Fans noticed that Baldoni, 40, has not been doing press with any of his co-stars. He also opted out of red carpet appearances alongside Lively — who served as a producer on the movie — and the rest of the cast.
He slammed those who are “vilifying the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film,” saying that the cruel comments is “the opposite” of the movie’s message.
“What may or may not have happened behind the scenes does not and hopefully should not detract from what our intentions were in making this film,” Sklenar continued. “It’s been disheartening to see the amount of negative being projected online.”
Lively and Baldoni have not spoken out about the drama.
