Texas Democratic delegate robbed at gunpoint near DNC in Chicago

A member of the Texas Democratic Delegation was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in downtown Chicago after the national convention early Wednesday.

The victim – who was reportedly in the Windy City for the Democratic National Convention this week – was walking with a friend near the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago around 2 a.m. when he was targeted by a gunman wearing a ski mask, Chicago Police Department said.

Before confronting the pair, the gunman had pulled up across the street in a black Range Rover and robbed a 25-year-old man of his wallet and hotel room key, police said.

The thief then allegedly dashed across the street and demanded property from the pair, a 40-year-old woman and 37-year-old man, who was identified by CWBChicago as a member of the Texas Democratic Delegation.

After robbing the man and woman, the offender then got back into the SUV and sped off. No injuries were reported, police said.

Police declined to provide more information about the victims, including whether they were in town for the convention.

Police on Thursday were looking for the robber and the alleged getaway driver, who were described as two men between 5’7” and 5’9” tall.

The pair is also linked to at least three other alleged robberies that took place this week, including an incident at 10:30 a.m. Monday, and an armed robbery outside the Emily Hotel at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The unidentified suspects are believed to be behind another, similar robbery that took place around the same time that the delegate was targeted on Wednesday.

The Democratic National Convention’s Chicago office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for a comment.
