The Mariners are going to drastic measures to stop their stunning collapse.

Seattle is firing manager Scott Servais on Thursday as the team has seen a 10-game lead in the AL West evaporate, according to The Athletic.

The Mariners spent most of the season atop the AL West and a handful games over .500, but after losing eight of their past nine games they now sit five games behind the Astros in the AL West.

The Mariners once had a 10-game lead atop the AL West and now sit at 64-64 after getting swept by the Dodgers this week in Los Angeles.

The team plans to name Dan Wilson, who was a catcher for Seattle during the 1990s and 2000s, their interim manager.

According to the site, Wilson was the Mariners’ special assignment coordinator in spring training and a fill-in broadcaster for the team’s ROOT Sports coverage, but has never been part of a major league coaching staff.

Notably, slugging outfielder Julio Rodriguez has just 11 home runs and 38 RBIs this season as his power numbers have taken a precipitous decline.

The Mariners had already fired offensive coordinator Brant Brown on May 31 amid the team’s woes at the plate.

According to the Seattle Times , Brown was close the 57-year-old Servais.

Servais was a catcher for the Astros, Cubs, Giants and Rockies in his 11-year playing career.

He finished his stint with the Mariners with a 680-642 record, leading them to the postseason in 2022 when they got swept by the eventual champion Astros in the ALDS.
