The Yankees have relied on the hot bats of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, but it was Giancarlo Stanton who put Thursday’s game out of reach.

At the plate with a two-run lead and two men on in the bottom of the fifth, after Soto grounded into a force out and Judge was intentionally walked for the 16th time this season, Stanton blasted a three-run homer into Monument Park in deep center field to help power his team to a 6-0 victory over the Guardians on Thursday afternoon in The Bronx.

“Big, big to get that series,” Stanton said. “Every series is going to be big the rest of the way.”

His 21st home run of the season came on a two-out, full-count 82 mph slider from Cleveland pitcher Nick Sandlin, which forced Stanton to reach a bit and make contact at the tip of his bat.

The hit had a launch angle of 26 degrees, an exit velocity of 105.1 mph and a distance of 417 feet.

“I think there’s one guy, and you saw it today,” Judge said when asked how many players can hit the slider Stanton did Thursday. “He basically did the same thing against the Rangers, got a slider down away in the zone and drove it out for a three-run home run. It’s impressive what he can do for being such a big guy. He uses his legs so well. Those sliders off the plate or sliders down, those are always in his damage zone.”

Alex Verdugo’s frustration of missing pitches he ‘f–king normally’ hits is only growing

Judge hit a home run of his own — his MLB-leading 48th of the season — but the Yankees captain said he’s been watching Stanton do what he’s doing right now for years.

The two heavyweight hitters smacked home runs in the same game for the 10th time this season and the 41st time in the same regular-season contest for the Yankees — the fifth-most such games by a pair of teammates in franchise history, trailing only Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth (73), Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle (55), Bob Meusel and Babe Ruth (47) and Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris (42).

“He’s huge in the middle,” manager Aaron Boone said of Stanton, who is batting .241 on the season. “Him and Austin [Wells] now. Obviously, today they walked Judge the one time, Austin had a really good at-bat for the sac fly, almost broke it open and almost found the gap there. And then G, kind of doing G things where not many people hit the ball like that and are able to ride it out. I thought a lot of good at-bats put us in that position.

“Whether it was [Anthony] Volpe working a walk, Ben Rice working a big walk, Gleyber [Torres] having good at-bats at the top, put us in a position to eventually cash in on a big inning a little bit. It was Big G today. He’s huge for the length of our lineup. Big swing.”
