A woodsy Montana home perched on — and above — 20 acres that had asked $7.5 million is poised to hit the auction block in the coming weeks.

The seller is retired NFL legend Drew Brees, a Super Bowl winner and former quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

The residence is part of the Homestead, a private gated community on 1,400 acres surrounded by national forest just 13 miles north of Whitefish, a resort town in the Rocky Mountains of Montana.

The luxury treehouse, as its images prominently show it to be, was built with “ Treehouse Masters ” — builders from the Animal Planet show.

There’s also room on the property for new owners to construct their dream house and a second structure, such as a sports barn, an art studio or a “man cave,” as the estate includes multiple building sites with utilities installed.

“When my family and I first visited this stunning piece of land, we knew it was a dream property. As dedicated fans of ‘Treehouse Masters’ — and friends of the ‘Treehouse’ team — we were thrilled when they turned our dream into reality by building this one-of-a-kind creation,” Brees told Gimme Shelter. “We’ll always treasure these memories and are excited to have paved the way for the next owner to appreciate the true beauty of Whitefish and the Homestead community.”

The property, at 31 Forest Path Drive, will be auctioned by Concierge Auctions in cooperation with broker Sean Averill of PureWest Christie’s International Real Estate. “The treehouse is just the beginning to what can be developed here,” Averill said.

While there is no minimum bid, starting bids are estimated to begin at $2 million to $4 million. The auction is slated to launch on Sept. 12 online, and end with a live auction on Sept. 27 in Hong Kong as part of a 2024 “sales series spanning Los Angeles, New York and Hong Kong,” according to the auction house.

Brees, we hear, is still so enamored with Montana that he is now the owner of his own private ranch.

The custom treehouse, built as a guest house last year, is elevated at tree level and overlooks a wide valley. It comes fully furnished and move-in ready. At 1,700 square feet, it features four bedrooms, two baths — and a view deck set 15 feet above the ground with outdoor furniture, a propane firepit and scenic mountain views.

There’s also a kitchen with bar-top seating, a living room and a dining room — all with majestic Montana scenery.

The front door is made from reclaimed redwood, while the barn-wood siding was salvaged from Kentucky. Design details include beamed ceilings and white-washed oak floors.

As part of the Homestead, the new owners will have access to a lakeside clubhouse, equestrian facilities, hiking and biking trails — as well as a shooting and archery range, and even a pickleball court.

There’s also exclusive access to Little Bootjack Lake and Whitefish Lake for fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding.

The Whitefish Mountain Resort is just 20 miles away, with world class skiing.
