A couple has been slammed online for creating a “very weird” gender reveal with their two daughters.

Lauren and Christopher, parents to two daughters in the U.S., were keen to learn what sex their third baby would be.

So when it came to the gender reveal, they knew their celebration had to be one-of-a-kind.

Unfortunately, not everyone was impressed by their stunt, with some labeling it as “weird” and the “worst gender reveal ever”.

Lauren and Christopher, dressed head to toe in white, stood in front of a stunning backdrop in America’s west.

Their two daughters, Kennedy, 10, and McKenna, four, were standing between them on a large white tarp, holding a clear umbrella above their heads.

“I’m so excited,” one of the daughters said in the now-viral TikTok .

The parents were holding a bucket in their hands and standing above their daughters, who were looking down in preparation for what was to come.

Then came the actual gender reveal: pouring paint on the two kids.

If the paint is pink, they would be having a girl, and if it’s blue, they’d be having a boy.

The big moment was finally happening, with Lauren and Christopher dumping the contents of the buckets all over their two kids.

And the color? Pink! Maybe? Or was it red?

Speaking to a fan after the video went viral, Lauren confirmed the color was “magenta pink”, not red as many had assumed, and looked exactly how she had hoped.

Later, she further explained why she chose to involve her kids in the gender reveal.

“The girls love to create art with paint; it’s their favorite thing,” she said. “So we wanted to include it in the reveal to make them feel a part [of it], and it made for super cool photos.”

    “Which gender is red?”

While the family was thrilled to have another girl in the family, others online were a little less enthused by the entire gender reveal.

Online, people genuinely couldn’t tell the two apart, with some arguing it looked nothing like hot pink paint and was, in fact, blood red. Yikes.

“I really don’t understand this. Why the red paint?” someone asked. “That looks like a murder scene,” another wrote.

“Color looks a little too close to blood,” a third added. “It’s giving ‘Carrie’ vibes,” a film buff said.

“I’m sitting here trying to process which gender is red?” a confused person asked.

Some believed the “red” paint (which was actually “magenta pink”) had a darker meaning than meets the eye.

“Red paint to symbolize the dad’s broken heart, it’s not a boy,” someone hypothesized (which is a bit cruel, honestly). “Such a creepy choice for a reveal,” a second person wrote.

But fans cut through the noise, congratulating the family on the welcome addition to their family and praising their “unique” gender reveal.

“I think this is sweet, and anyone who thinks the paint is red needs their eyes checked,” read a comment. “I think people need to realize that cameras also pick up different tones of color, so that could look more pink in person,” another added.

“This was a beautiful gender reveal,” a third shared. “And it was completely clear what was going on.”
