The Northern Irishman, upset with his tee shot on the 17th hole at Colorado’s Castle Pines Golf Club in the second round of the BMW Championship, tossed his driver into the water.

“Obviously not happy with that one,” one of the Golf Channel analysts opined.

“You don’t see him lose his poise too often,” another retorted.

McIlroy was coming off a bogey on the 15th hole, which upped his score to -1 on the day, and following it up with a poor drive to start the par-5 No. 17, well…

“Those two things combined, well, he was upset,” the play-by-play team remarked. “Club didn’t go all the way in, so that’s not a problem.”

The scene was reminiscent of Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore character — who is getting a sequel — and his putter-throwing antics.

McIlory was easily able to retrieve the club, and finished out the hole with a par.

He added one final par on the 18th hole to finish with a 1-under 71 on the day, following his 2-under first round on Thursday.

Mcilory was tied for 14th at the end of his round at -1, with several players still on the course.

He’ll have his work cut out for him to climb the leaderboard, Adam Scott posting an otherworldly -9 on the day to lead the pack at -13, with Alex Noren behind him at -8.

One player they won’t have to worry about for the rest of the weekend is Hideki Matsuyama, as the Olympic bronze medalist withdrew after posting a five-under 57 on Thursday, citing a lower-back injury.
