Maybe the Uvalde Police Department should stop using social media.

The Texas law enforcement agency is being ripped as tone deaf for a “First Day of School” post about keeping kids “safe” — despite waiting 77 minutes before killing a maniac killer who already slaughtered at least 18 children.

“School starts today!,” reads the Aug. 12 post . “Please slow down in school zones and stay alert. Let’s work together to keep our kids safe!”

Reaction — on a different platform, since the department turned off comments on its Facebook page — was a mix of shock and disgust.

“The ‘keeping children safe’ ship sailed on May 24, 2022,” wrote one Reddit user, referencing the horrific massacre inside Robb Elementary School that left 21 people, mostly kids, dead.

“‘Slow down in school zones’ must apply to police response time as well,” wrote another.

“‘Of course, once they’re IN the school itself, they’re completely on their own,'” posted another.

Approximately 400 police officers responded to Robb Elementary School, and finally shot the gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos , after over an hour. Cops even prevented parents from entering the school to try to save their children.

The police department turned off comments on May 24, after a post marking the two-year anniversary of the murders.

“The Uvalde Police Department stands with you, ready to offer support and assistance on this solemn day,” the post read. “Our commitment to this community is unwavering, and we are here to help in any way we can.”
