Boss died at age 40 in 2022 , and the couple shared three children: daughters Weslie, 16, and Zaia, 4, and son Maddox, 8.

The former “Ellen DeGeneres Show” DJ was found dead inside of a Los Angeles hotel room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and reportedly left a suicide note.

In June, Holker, who tied the knot with Boss in 2013, took a moment to reflect on how her kids handled their father’s death, noting to People that they did so with “so much grace and so much kindness.”

“We always had a really close bond as a family,” the reality star continued. “But there’s a new level of it now. There’s a new level of respect and patience and understanding. And the conversations I’m able to embrace and have with my children is like nothing I’ve ever seen from other families.”

Holker added, “It came from something so sad and painful, but it’s only brought us together.”

Despite the tragedy, she remained hopeful that she could find her other half again.

“I think I am a person that I always say the quote, ‘Romanticize your life.’ And I think, though I’ve gone through so much, I’m still a believer in living a big life,” Holker told the outlet. “There’s not been one moment that I haven’t thought to myself, ‘I still want to live a big life.'”

The mom of three said she “still would want to have love, would still want to travel the world. I still want to see and experience new things with new people, new energy, my friends, my family, a loved one — a potential — and my kids.”

Most importantly, Holker wanted to be an example to her children.

“I want them to see that they can still learn to trust and love again,” she confessed. “It doesn’t have to go away.”

And when it comes to dating? As Holker put it, “I would embrace it.”
