A Florida Panthers employee was reportedly fired after leaking photos of the team’s new center-ice logo.

On Monday evening, David Rodriguez, host of FLA Cats Hockey Podcast, shared an image of the new rink design on X, asking “This real?”

Just over an hour later, the franchise confirmed the change with a post on X of their own.

The new logo is a return to the franchise’s “shield logo,” according to the team.

“This year our shield finds its way back to center ice,” the Panthers’ X post read. “And for the first time in franchise history, the circle is filled with red.”

It also takes after some features of the Stanley Cup.

“The sun’s looking a little different in South Florida,” the post read. “The shield is placed over sun rays inspired by the embossed pattern in the Stanley Cup.”

The Panthers took home the Stanley Cup after beating the Oilers in seven games last season, their first title in franchise history.

Florida nearly blew a 3-0 lead before taking Game 7 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla.
