Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray charged with 4 counts of murder

Apalachee High School shooting suspect Colt Gray was hit with felony murder charges in connection to the rampage that left four dead, officials said.

Gray, 14, was charged with four counts of felony murder in connection with the deadly shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday.

The teen surrendered to school resource officers at the scene of the massacre on Wednesday morning, and was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville, the investigators added.

He is expected to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Additional charges are expected, according to the GBI.

The autopsies of the four victims – teachers Richard Aspinwall and Christine Irimie and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo – will be performed Thursday by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, the agency said.

“The investigation into the shooting at Apalachee HS is still active & ongoing,” the GBI said in a statement.

“This is day 2 of a very complex investigation & the integrity of the case is paramount. We ask for the public’s patience as we work to ensure a successful prosecution & justice for the victims.”

In addition to the four deceased victims, Colt Gray is accused of wounding nine other people in the Wednesday morning rampage.
