The Post’s college football rankings, Heisman watch following Week 2

1. Georgia (2-0) (Last week: 1)

Georgia has yet to allow a touchdown this season, and based on what we saw from Kentucky — their next opponent — in an ugly loss to South Carolina on Saturday, odds are that won’t happen in Week 3, either.

2. Texas (2-0) (3)

The Longhorns looked the part of a legitimate title contender on Saturday, thrashing Michigan in Ann Arbor behind three touchdown passes from Quinn Ewers. It marked the Wolverines’ first home loss since the 2020 season, ending their 23-game win streak at The Big House.

3. Ohio State (2-0) (2)

A three-game gauntlet to start the season against Akron, Western Michigan and Marshall. Ryan Day: Big fan of cupcakes.

4. Alabama (2-0) (4)

Jam Miller nearly equaled his entire sophomore-year output on Saturday, rushing for 140 yards — he managed just 201 yards all of last season — and a touchdown in a tougher-than-expected win over South Florida.

5. Ole Miss (2-0) (5)

Two wins by a combined 128-3 over Middle Tennessee State and Furman. Lane Kiffin shops at the same bakery as Ryan Day.

6. Oregon (2-0) (7)

The best thing that can be said so far about Oregon is that the Ducks have survived two near-disasters against Idaho and Boise State. As coach Dan Lanning admitted, “there are certainly a lot of things to fix.”

7. Tennessee (2-0) (NR)

Either Tennessee was underrated or N.C. State was overrated. Maybe a little bit of both. Either way, the Volunteers’ 51-10 road win over the Wolfpack spoke volumes.

8. Penn State (2-0) (9)

The good news: Penn State has three weeks before its Big Ten opener against Illinois. It sure needs it after nearly losing at home to 34.5-point underdog Bowling Green.

9. USC (2-0) (10)

I’m not ready to say if USC is or isn’t for real. But the defense sure looks vastly different than the Charmin-soft unit of the last two years, and that’s a major development for Lincoln Riley and Co.

10. Missouri (2-0) (NR)

Fascinating under-the-radar game this week, as Missouri hosts Boston College after a pair of blowout wins over Murray State and Buffalo. BC upset Florida State in Dublin in convincing fashion and could be better than advertised under new coach Bill O’Brien.

Dropped out: Notre Dame (1-1) and Michigan (1-1)

Heisman Watch (in alphabetical order)

QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Dart has missed on just seven passes in two blowout wins, while throwing for 795 yards and six touchdowns. That’ll play.

RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

The junior has quickly made a name for himself, rushing for 459 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging a silly 10.2 yards per carry. Oregon had no answers for him in a three-point victory.

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas

He carved up Michigan’s defense like a hot knife through butter, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns to end the Wolverines’ 23-game home winning streak. With patsies UTSA and UL Monroe on the way, Ewers should start piling up gaudy numbers.

QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama

It was a quiet performance, 194 yards through the air and two touchdowns, in a 42-16 win over South Florida. He did add two rushing scores, and now has scored nine times in two weeks.

QB Cam Ward, Miami

Ward picked up where he left off against Florida: 304 yards passing and four scores in a 56-9 blasting of Florida A&M.
