You can never have too many Ziploc bags in the house — and there’s an easy way to double your supply without spending a cent.

A clever content creator recently shared a hack for multiplying your stash of the handy storage vessels by two — especially handy for when a smaller bag will do, and you can’t be bothered to go shopping for new sizes.

Flight attendant reveals her ‘life-changing’ hotel hack: ‘She might actually be a genius’

In a TikTok video posted by @that40yearguy, viewers can see that the hack involves cutting the plastic bag in half vertically — but that’s only part of the process.

In order to create two bags from one, you first heat your sharp, non-serrated knife over an open flame.

Mom’s viral airplane seating hack sparks debate: ‘Can’t stand when people do this’

The video shows a knife being heated over a gas stove, but a lighter or candle will work as well.

There’s no exact amount of time to hold the knife over the flame — just a few seconds should do the trick, though thinner metal will heat up faster, and a stronger flame, like from a gas stove, will also do the job more quickly.

Once you’ve got your hot knife, put the Ziploc bag flat on a cutting board and slowly slice through the bag vertically.

The heat from the blade will seal the edges on the side, leaving you with two smaller baggies.

Won’t work for everyone depends on what you’re storing size matters

I rehash my bags and I also use plastic containers instead of bags. They have raised the price so much its just not worth buying them anymore. I pray all these greedy companies go under.
