Van Dyke made his latest public appearance on Sept. 7 at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys , where his CBS special, “Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic,” won for Outstanding Variety Special.

His wife, Arlene Silver, 52 , was also at the Creative Arts Emmys. She wore a glittering silver dress.

Despite his special winning an Emmy, Van Dyke himself didn’t take home a statue since he wasn’t a producer on the project, per Variety .

“Thank you, that reception, I cannot tell you what it means,” Van Dyke said on stage as he accepted the award on behalf of everyone who made the special.

“I’m 99 next month,” he reminded the audience, before showing off some dance moves to prove his youth.

The “Bye Bye Birdie” star also gave a shoutout to his wife , who was a producer on the special.

“The young lady who got this award, you may think of the word nepotism and I would understand it, but this lady got the job all by herself as producer of the Dick Van Dyke special because she knows me inside and out, and knows how I work, and don’t take no sass from anybody. Arlene Van Dyke!” he said.

While speaking to reporters at the Creative Arts Emmys, Van Dyke said that he wants to be remembered “for laughter.”

“Hopefully for making people laugh for 75 years,” he added. “I’ve been in the business for 75 years, I can’t believe it that I’m still here and performing! I’m looking for work if anyone’s interested.”

In June, Van Dyke made history when he became the oldest Daytime Emmy winner . He took home a trophy for guest performance in a daytime drama series for his part as amnesiac Timothy Robicheaux on Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives.”

“I don’t believe this. I feel like a spy from nighttime television,” he said at the event. “I’m 98 years old. Can you believe it? This really tops off a lifetime of 80 years in the business. If I had known I would have lived this long I would’ve taken better care of myself.”

Van Dyke has won four Primetime Emmys, including three in the 1960s for his classic comedy series “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
