Dead baby found in bathroom of NYC eatery

A baby was found dead in the bathroom of a restaurant in Manhattan’s Financial District on Monday morning, police sources said.

The body of the child — whose gender and age were not immediately known — was discovered just before 10 a.m. inside the restroom at Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine on Fulton Street near Gold Street downtown, cops and sources said.

Police responded to a 911 call and found the baby unconscious and unresponsive, authorities said.

The infant was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers, cops said.

The circumstances of the baby’s death are under investigation, and it was not immediately known whether criminality is suspected.

No arrests have been made.
