I’m having a Monday wedding — 20 guests are saying they ‘forgot’ about my big day

    They objected.

A bride has been left with her head spinning after more than 20 guests bailed on her wedding at the last minute, blaming the fact that she scheduled her big day for a Monday.

Now, the 30-year-old woman with a dwindling guest list that began in the 80s has said she is “screwed.”

I proposed to my girlfriend on a dock — then things went horribly wrong

“I knew there would be people who probably will last minute not be able to come,” she posted on Reddit , mentioning that extra money is hard to come by as a minimum wage worker. “Every dollar spent hurts my soul.”

Now, the Florida wedding is expected to see a headcount in the “low 60s.”

“People forgetting about the wedding, thinking it was the wrong day, etc. but they only would tell us this if we called for reminders,” she wrote, adding fears that an upcoming “hurricane” — presumably Milton — will cause even more of a storm for her planned nuptials.

This New York area ranks as the ‘most expensive’ to get married in the US — and it’s not Manhattan

“All these people would have just not shown up that day. So I would have had so many empty set-up tables.”

Now, in a last-ditch effort, the bride, whose mother is graciously helping with costs, is looking for several people to seat fill in the eleventh hour.

I’m trying to think of people who wouldn’t get offended if we asked to go and who are available on a Monday,” she wrote. “But at this point we are screwed.”

In the comments, one user called out why they think so many people pulled out.

“They’re hungover and rather cancel now than night before,” they wrote.

Someone else shared a similar personal anecdote from their wedding too.

“We invited 201 to our wedding. We had 61 decline and 140 accept they’d be there but of the 140 that accepted 32 of those didn’t show up,” they wrote. “Over half of them didn’t even let us know that they wouldn’t be there.”

As for what to do with the excess meals, another user suggested a clever alternative.

“Can some of the food be cooked and frozen? Eat it at Thanksgiving or something instead?” they wrote.

A lot of people are just inconsiderate. A friend recently had a wedding and 15 people bailed at the last minute. Some had valid reasons. Some were jerks. The counts were already in for the venue, so they paid a lot of money for empty seats. And, to add insult to injury, they didn’t even send a gift.
