Fernando Tatís Jr. seemingly made light of a critical column from baseball insider Ken Rosenthal , but the Padres didn’t seem to be too amused by it and reportedly banned the reporter from the team’s dugout during the Fox television broadcast of Game 3 in the NLDS.

The issue stemmed from a column that Rosenthal wrote for The Athletic about Manny Machado in which he was heavily critical of the Padres star for what Rosenthal called a “ punkish response” to Jack Flaherty hitting Fernando Tatis Jr. earlier in Game 2.

The piece also took a shot at Tatis and Jurickson Profar, the former being described as a “smiling, dancing peacock.”

It was clear that Rosenthal’s story made its way back to Tatis and the Padres, who defeated the Dodgers in Game 3 on Tuesday night to move a win away from advancing to the National League Division Series.

Tatis posted a photo to his Instagram story, showing him celebrating a home run, and below it, he added a peacock and a dancing emoji, which appears to be a less-than-subtle reference to the Rosenthal column.

The Padres took it a step further during Game 3 of the intense series between the two NL West rivals.

San Diego opted not to take part in any in-game interviews with Rosenthal on Fox on Tuesday night, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune .

The boycott was for only one game, and they were expected to resume interviews with Fox on Wednesday night for Game 4.

The series between the Dodgers and Padres has been particularly testy with several notable moments, from fans throwing objects toward Padres players to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ comments about Machado throwing a ball toward the Los Angeles dugout in Game 2.

All the drama, at least according to Profar, helped motivate the Padres clubhouse.

“Like all those things — all (that) lying I don’t know, man. It’s a great team over there. I don’t think they need all (that) lying,” he said, according to the Union-Tribue. “We just need to play baseball. … Like Fernando’s dancing. You guys are insulting us. You (are) throwing stuff. You do everything. What do you want him to do? He’s reacting like that, he’s dancing like that because of you guys.

“And they make it seem like no, he’s dancing and taunting the fans. Do you think he just goes to the field to be dancing? Really?”
