Listen to John Sterling call the final out of the Yankees’ thrilling series-clinching win

Legendary Yankees broadcaster John Sterling got to use one of his signature lines as the Bombers advanced to the American League Championship Series on Thursday night in a 3-1 win over the Royals .

Sterling, who retired from the radio broadcast booth earlier this year, made a special return to the microphone for the team’s playoff run, which now is headed to the ALCS and a date with the winner of the Tigers-Guardians ALDS.

“A high fly to center this is it,” Sterling said on the call in the bottom of the ninth inning. “[Aaron] Judge is there. He makes the catch! Ballgame over! American League Division Series over! Yankees win! The Yankees win!”

Sterling, who returned for the end-of-the-season playoff, told The Post last month that the travel grind started to wear on him, but that he would be OK during the postseason.

“It’s a little frightening [being back], actually,” Sterling said. “I didn’t want to do this every day.

“Chris [Olivero] asked me, ‘How are you traveling [to the playoff games], are you OK with that? I said, ‘In the playoffs, the most you go away for is three games.’ I think I’m ready. I’ll see.”

With the win, the Yankees advanced to the ALCS for the second time in three years.

“There’s a lot of individuals that play for the team every single day,” Judge told TNT after the series-clinching win. “2023, our season ended [in Kansas City]. We didn’t get into the postseason. … We all kind of came together and said, ‘hey it’s not going to happen again.’”

The ALCS will begin on Monday at Yankee Stadium, with Sterling back behind the mic on the radio.

WFAN is still trying to decide on a permanent replacement for Sterling after this season, with The Post reporting last month that Mariners broadcaster Dave Sims is a finalist for the gig.
