    New York could see northern lights again tonight — here’s where you have the best chance

    New York is forecast to enjoy a repeat performance of last night’s northern lights this evening — but aurora borealis aficionados will need to hightail it out of the city to take in a second showing.

    According to the aurora forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA ), the rare treat will be once again on display this evening.

    But if you missed snapping a slew of pictures and hope to get in on the phenomenon tonight, you have a significant drive ahead of you, according to the agency.

    That’s because the five boroughs aren’t likely to be twice lucky.

    Lake Ontario and the Adirondacks are about as far south as the magic is forecast to happen today, the experts said.

    The eye-popping event that left the Big Apple astounded on Thursday — and saw social media platforms overloaded with video and images — was caused by a “severe” geomagnetic storm.

    “It has been a LONG time since we’ve seen visible aurora over NYC,” X account New York Metro Weather enthused in a post showing the purple and pink display, visible to the naked eye on countless city street corners.

    And the city may not have to wait too long for another engagement — there’s been a spike in solar activity recently, with some Tri-Staters witnessing the natural spectacular as recently as May of this year.

    That’s due to current solar conditions, which are absolutely conducive to further sky drama, meteorologists explained .
