Gangbanger, 20, sentenced for drive-by shooting outside former Rep. Lee Zeldin’s NY home: DA

A 20-year-old gangbanger will serve a decade behind bars for wounding two rivals in a drive-by shooting outside the Long Island home of former Rep. Lee Zeldin.

Noah Green, a member of the No Fake Love gang, was slapped with a 12-year sentence in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday over the broad-daylight shooting outside Zeldin’s Shirley home on Oct. 9, 2022, prosecutors said.

Green opened fire at three rival gang members , striking two of them in the chest, according to prosecutors.

Zeldin, a Republican who was in the midst of an unsuccessful run for governor, was not at home when the gunfire erupted. But his 16-year-old twin daughters were inside doing homework and fled into the bathroom after the shots rang out.

“This was a horrific act of gang-related violence that put innocent lives at risk,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a press release .

“The defendant’s decision to open fire on a residential neighborhood, with two young girls inside the home he shot towards, demonstrates a complete disregard for human life.”

Prosecutors said Green was driving a stolen car when he spotted three rival gang members walking down St. George Drive and fired multiple shots out of the car, striking Joel Murphy and Elijah Robinson, both 17 at the time, in the chest.

One of the two victims jumped over the congressman’s fence trying to avoid getting shot as the bullets flew, knocking over a “Zeldin for Governor” sign and striking his fence, sources recounted at the time.

Zeldin said at the time that his security cameras captured three people on his property.

“One was lying down underneath our porch or was lying down under a bush in front of our porch just a couple feet away. The third person who wasn’t shot was moving all around the property up and down the porch,” he said, adding that one of the bullets landed about 30 feet from where his daughters were.

While both survived, Murphy also suffered a lacerated liver, and Robinson sustained an arm wound.

The then-18-year-old, who regularly posted photos and videos of his gang affiliation on social media to taunt and challenge rivals, bragged on his platforms following the shooting, prosecutors said.

Following a foot pursuit, police arrested Green on Oct. 31, 2022, and found what prosecutors said was the gun used in the shooting in his pants pocket.

Shell casings from the weapon were also found lodged between the windshield and the hood of the stolen vehicles, prosecutors said.

The Shirley resident was later indicted with 17 other defendants following an investigation into the No Fake Love gang from crimes including shootings and carjackings.

Green pleaded guilty in September to second-degree attempted murder, gun possession and conspiracy charges.
