We were conned into believing the BS that locking up young Afro-Americans was a 'New Jim Crow Mass incarceration CONSPIRACY'. Their EVIDENCE was that minority population are Incarcerated disproportionate to their population. Some of it is inability to pay legal representation. But the crimes ARE being committed. Stop talking like they were jailed for no reason. NYS Bail Reform doesn't require cash bail for even 2nd degree manslaughter. Many us grew up poor. Stayed in school. Started with minimum wage jobs. We didn't Blame a SYSTEM. We worked harder. Found ways to qualify for higher pay. Advocates go to prisons and tell everyone that it's not their fault. So they never change.
