Igor Shesterkin Listed As NHL's Best Goalie

Igor Shesterkin is the best goalie in the world according to NHL Network’s top 10 goalies right now list.

Shesterkin ranks first while the other goalies behind him includes Connor Hellebuyck, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Jeremy Swayman, Ilya Sorokin, Thatcher Demko, Sergei Bobrovsky, Jake Oettinger, Juuse Saros and Linus Ullmark.

The New York Rangers goalie is coming off of a season where he recorded a 36-17-2 record, 2.58 goals against average and .913 save percentage.

In the playoffs, Shesterkin really proved to the world he is the best to play at his position. His fantastic play helped lead the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Final as he put up a 2.34 GAA and .927 SV% in 16 playoff games.

Without Shesterkin, the Rangers would not be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and a Stanley Cup contender, which cannot be said about the majority of goalies in the league.

Even with all the talent that surrounds Shesterkin, the 28-year-old is still the glue that keeps the entire team together.

Going into a contract year, Shesterkin should elevate his game even further as he is on pace to sign the biggest contract for a goalie in NHL history.
