Jimmy Vesey is getting closer towards a return to the New York Rangers’ lineup.

On Friday, Vesey skated on his own prior to the team’s practice, which is an indication that his recovery is going well.

Vesey suffered a lower-body injury during training camp and was put on LTIR right before the start of the regular season, meaning he’ll miss at least the first ten games.

During a practice about two weeks ago, Vesey went down and was laboring in pain on the ice as he quickly limped his way back into the locker room.

Last season, the 31-year-old recorded 13 goals, 13 assists and 26 points in 80 games while averaging 12:23 minutes.

While his timetable for return is still unknown, the fact that he’s already back on the ice is certainly a positive sign.

With Vesey absent, the fourth line has consisted of Sam Carrick, Jonny Brodzinski, Matt Rempe and Adam Edström.
