Looking Backward At Barclay Goodrow, And How He's Been Replaced

Let's have a show of hands, please: Does any Rangers fan in this room – borough or City of New York and suburbs – miss the once-beloved Blueshirt, Barclay (Himself) Goodrow?

Pardon me, if I report a cascading roar that sounds a lot like "Not I, Sir."

That's because the vastly-overpaid and underperforming center scored a grand total of four – count 'em, four – goals in 80 regular season games and eight awesome assists last season, "helping" the Blueshirts win the "coveted" Presidents' Trophy.

So far, this semester with the San Jose Sharks, Goody has played nine games with one

goal to his credit, no assists, and a minus one. To nobody's surprise, the Sharks are lower than Davy Jones Locker.

Goodrow is a forgotten Ranger because this season's selection of grunts have made him obsolete. Will Cuylle – he had a superior rookie year – already has seven points. Sam Carrick only has a goal and assist but he looks like a bopping asset.

"This year's Rangers edition is tougher than the one that got beaten – and beat up – by Florida last spring," says The Old Scout. "None of the other trade deadline guys from last March are missed."

One of them happens to be Goodrow's Shark teammate, Alex Wennberg. Over nine games he has a pair of assists to go with a minus-eight.

To me, Cuylle is a young, more productive, more physical version of Goodrow. Big Deal Barclay is pulling in $3,641,667 while Cuylle is earning $925,000.

Now you know why we waved Barclay a hearty BYE-BYE!
