New York NFL Football: Real Respectability Regained
In late July, visions of a second Subway World Series between the Mets and Yankees were bounced around as an actual possibility. When the Mets and Yankees faced off in a pair of games during the summer, it appeared that the two New York baseball teams were among the best in the game.
What Will The Yankees Lineup Look Like Against The Astros?
It was a bit closer than most would have liked, but the Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in five games to advance to the American League Championship series. The series had some interesting twists and turns, and it will be interesting to see what the Yankees lineup will look like against the Houston Astros.
Rangers off to a solid start
The New York Rangers finished up the 2021-22 season after falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference finals and if this seasons’ early returns are any indication, then the Rangers should plan on business as usual throughout the playoffs next spring. The Rangers are sitting at 3-1 and while they did have one hiccup loss, they’ve put in 17 goals in the net in the first week of the NHL season.
Jets: Can you believe three in a row?
Did Christmas come a bit early this year? When you wake up on Monday morning and read that the New York Jets are 4-2 with a three game winning streak, you have to shake your head and say “wake up,” right? No, Jets fans you’re not sleep walking or in some demented NFL dream only to wake up and find our your team is 0-6. The New York Jets, yes, the New York Jets are 4-2 and coming off a statement victory on the football hallowed grounds of Lambeau Field by beating Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers 27-10 yesterday.
Rangers enjoying success early on
The wait and sheer anticipation is over. The NHL 2022-23 season officially arrived this year to lots of the usual fanfare and hoopla and why not? As a sports-defined culture, the return of sports seasons signifies a return to normalcy in our lives once again. No more professional sports played in front of empty arenas or stadiums; no more playoffs being played in isolation from fans and even other teams for fear of spreading disease. Just by starting the NHL season, fans are gaining a level of assurance that things are getting back to the way they used to be and that has to be a good thing.
Get Ready for Giants vs Ravens with their 2008 Heavyweight Matchup
Raise your hand if you thought the Giants would be 4-1 midway through October?. Damn it, it feels good to be here. The Giants face a tough test this week as they take on the 3-2 Baltimore Ravens. To get ready for this one, let’s look back to the Giants and Ravens heavyweight matchup at Giants Stadium back in 2008.
Are the Jets “For Real”?
When Robert Saleh made his way to the New York Jets, everyone in the organization expected a boost of vigor and moxie that would provide the Jets with the energy they needed. And when his tenure started, “All Gas No Breaks” was born. What the Jets look like...
West Hudson Honors Soccer Lineage, Minus RBNY
The Town of Harrison, New Jersey honored its long history with the sport of soccer this past Saturday afternoon. A ceremony for the new monument, located at Harrison Library Park in the center of the town, was attended by a crowd of over 200 and included legends of the game. Former North American Soccer League champions and U.S. Men’s National team stars all doted the star studded stage.
“Next Man Up” Giants are for Real at 4-1
The 2022 New York Giants are for real. The NY Giants continue to play competitive football for the full 60 minutes each game. The coaches continue to make superb halftime adjustments that put the players in position to outscore opponents in the second half. Dabs, Wink, Kafka, and TMac have proven to be extraordinary planners and schemers. And the players–every one of them–are buying into the plan 100 percent.
Rangers making final roster moves
Well, there you have it. The 2022-23 NHL preseason is over and done with; the Rangers no doubt are ready to move on to games that “count” and they will get their chance on October 11th when they face their Eastern Conference nemesis in the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Rangers had a ho-hum preseason and went 2-4 which is nothing to panic about. Nor is a 2-4 preseason anything to brag about as the Rangers are coming off of a third round playoff run last season.
Two in a Row!
Famed sports commentator Al Michaels once asked us “do you believe in miracles?” and if you’re a Jets fan, you are starting to wonder if the last couple of weeks have been nothing short of a small miracle. The Jets have a winning record and wait for it – a two game winning streak. Maybe this is a sign of things to come now that sophomore QB Zach Wilson is back and seems to be healthy. Oh it would be so nice to dream about the Jets making the playoffs but wait a minute, there’s 12 more games to go and a lot of things could happen between now and then. Nevertheless, Jets fans can savor in a winning streak and this year the Green & White seem to be heading in the right direction-for now.
Halak is the Rangers Backup Plan Man
When you’re part of a team that has the arguably best goalie in the National Hockey League, who really cares about the backup goalie, right? After all, the Rangers have none other than 2022 Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin defending the crease on a nightly basis for the Blueshirts. However, if you are anything more than a casual follower of hockey or any major sports for that matter, you know that position backups are critical for the longevity and success of sports franchises.
Is October the time for Spinning a Webb?
October brings thoughts of Halloween and all the spooky and eerie creatures that linger in our minds this time of year. Well, look no further than the NY Giants roster to see this may be the time for a Webb. Not a spider web, but QB Davis Webb. While the...
Oswald Peraza Adds Another Wrinkle To Yankees Postseason Roster
Anyone who has watched the Yankees this September knows that Isiah Kiner-Falefa is going to be starting at shortstop in the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean that top prospect Oswald Peraza can’t play into the postseason roster. Even though it’s a small sample size, Peraza has looked comfortable...
Rangers roster moves – ramping up for season opening
It’s almost hard to believe but another NHL season is about to get underway. If you’ve been like many other hockey fans trying to steal as much TV time watching preseason games like me, you’re truly ready for these games to start counting. The Rangers roster seems to be falling into place and GM Chris Drury along with head coach Gerard Gallant are assembling the necessary chess pieces to make another run at the Stanley Cup in 2022-23.
Can the Jets Come Back from Their Disappointing Opening of the Season?
The New York Jets have had a rough start to this season. Granted, they didn’t exactly set the world on fire last season when they failed to qualify for the playoffs, but they were more confident of having a solid start to this season. Those hopes were dashed brutally...
Red Bull National Team Round-up (September 2022)
The New York Red Bulls have been off the past two weeks due to the FIFA International Window. The upcoming 2022 World Cup this winter means multiple teams have scheduled important friendlies as final tune-ups ahead of the competition. Others, like those in Europe, have actual competitions to play in such as the UEFA Nations League. Meanwhile others still use these sorts of windows to cap new talent and test out new tactics ahead of the next competition cycle.
