RECAP: John Tolkin Free Kick Gives Red Bulls Win Over D.C. United
The New York Red Bulls eked out a 1-0 win over rivals D.C. United on Sunday night in Harrison. Whether you call him John Tolkin or JMi, his free kick goal in the 88th minute was the deciding factor in the win. Besides that, New York had a slow “dominating” performance on paper only.

Welcome Back, Maxi!
NYCFC has desperately been seeking some sort of “magic” to try and kick-start what’s left of the 2023 MLS season. The exit from the MLS Leagues Cup tournament highlights the fact that the Cityzen offense has stalled and this squad needs an infusion of offensive firepower. NYCFC...

Violence Follows Red Bulls’ Leagues Cup Win Over NYCFC
The New York Red Bulls eliminated New York City FC from the Leagues Cup on Thursday night. An Omir Fernandez penalty kick gave RBNY the 1-0 win over their rivals in the impromptu Hudson River Derby. The fans at Red Bull Arena were mostly well behaved during the match. However following the game multiple violent clashes permeated outside.

Last Minute Transfers – can they breathe life back into NYCFC?

RECAP: Three Takeaways From Red Bulls Win Over Atlético San Luis in Leagues Cup
The New York Red Bulls are not done yet in the 2023 Leagues Cup tournament. On Sunday, the team beat Liga MX side Atlético San Luis, 2-1, to win its three-team group. Dante Vanzeir scored both goals in the second half, including one in stoppage time. Now the Red Bulls head into a knockout stage match against New York City FC on Thursday.
Newcastle United & Brighton Entertain Red Bull Arena in Summer Friendly
The Premier League came to Red Bull Arena on Friday night. As part of the 2023 Summer Series ahead of the 2023-24 season, Newcastle United F.C. and Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. played one-another on a scorching night. A late rally by Newcastle’s Elliot Anderson gave The Magpies a 2-1 win.
Has NYCFC Made the Best of Leagues Cup, So far?
Last week I asked if any NYCFC fans were interested in this brand-new tournament, and so far, it’s been a bit of an eye-opener. Regardless of what’s going on in the Leagues Cup, the Pigeons will still have to wait another three weeks to get the show back on the road, so this time could be considered “reconsolidation” or “rebuilding” time.

Should NYCFC care about the Leagues Cup?
In a nod to my fellow NYCFC site Hudson River Blues, maybe Pigeons fans need to take a hard look at the 2023 Leagues Cup that has swept over Major League Soccer. After all, this will be the only MLS action fans can look forward to for the next month as it presents itself as a hiatus from the normal seasonal grind that every MLS squad faces during the dog days of summer. The real question is should NYCFC care about the Leagues Cup?
Gotham FC Progress Report
We’ve reached that magical time of the NWSL where, well, not much is actually going on in the NWSL for the next month. The 2023 Women’s World Cup is in full swing Down Under and the only NWSL action going on currently is some matches for the 2023 Challenge Cup. Don’t get me wrong, this is the way things should be with over 60 NWSL players currently on World Cup squads.

Throughout NFL history, several rivalries have stood out for their intensity and enduring nature. The Giants did the Right Thing in the Saquon Barkley Negotations
When the Giants open up training camp in a few days, they will be without their most popular player. This comes after the Giants and Saquon Barkley were unable to come to an agreement on a long term contract. Saquon Barkley is none to happy and will for sure miss most, if not all, of the Giants training camp. While things are a bit rocky as it stands right now, Barkley will be on the field for the Giants come September. This is why it is very clear the Giants did the right thing in these negotiations.
NYCFC has opened up a Big Transfer Window
As we approach the middle point of the 2023 MLS season, it’s no doubt time to reflect on what has been essentially a disappointing campaign so far for NYCFC. Sitting on a 5-7-11 record and in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, the Pigeons are barely holding on to playoff hopes come this fall. That being said, there are still playoff hopes since NYCFC has opened up a big transfer window, and hope to make the best of these deals to create the right roster to make things happen.
Gotham FC makes roster moves before the World Cup
As we roll into the middle of July, attention is now of course building on the impending 2023 Women’s World Cup which opens up in just a matter of days. With over 60 NWSL players scheduled to play in the top-flight international tournament, what will actually happen to the NWSL and its schedule for the next month? Don’t worry, there will still be professional women’s soccer in the United States in the coming weeks and Gotham FC is ready for the continued competition by making roster moves before the World Cup.
