Red Bulls Fall to NYCFC, 1-0, After Lackluster Second Half
The New York Red Bulls’ looked unsure of themselves on Sunday night. Against rival New York City FC the team controlled much of the game but struggled to make convincing attempts at goal. The packed crowd at Red Bull Arena instead saw the latest Hudson River Derby go to the visitors, 1-0, behind a Taty Castellanos goal.
Jets Roster Left Absent in Top 100 NFL Players List
CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco released his Top 100 Players list for the 2022 NFL season. No New York Jets made the list. The Jets were one of six teams to not have a player on their roster make the cut for the top 100 – the Patriots, Giants, Texans, Jaguars, and Lions fall into the same pit.
The Giants Need this Aspect of their Defense to Improve in Order to Have a Successful 2022
The Giants are entering the 2022 season with a number of question marks. A number of those question marks come from the defensive side of the ball. Some of these questions include who is going to play cornerback 2, who is going to play inside linebacker next to Blake Martinez, do we have enough depth at defensive back, and the depth along the defensive line also raises some concerns. The last question I mentioned ties into a big aspect of the Giants defense that needs to improve.
Giants 2022 Position Outlook: Offensive Line Makeover
“Smart, Tough, Dependable”. These weren’t words you could associate with the 2021 Giants offensive line. You name it…injuries, sudden training camp retirements, coaching upheaval, reliance on over-the-hill players…the O-Line has suffered from a lack of GM attention and questionable coaching since the Giants’ last Super Bowl run. With five offensive line positions to man, the Giants have one returning starter. When GM Joe (Schoen) and Head Coach Brian Daboll arrived at the Giants facility, there were just five offensive linemen on the roster! They went to work during free agency and the draft to bring in talent and build competition. Now there are 17 linemen vying for roughly 9-10 roster spots.
The Report Card Is Out For The Jets’ Roster – Here’s How The Units Stack Up
CBS Sports came out with their roster rankings for the 2022 NFL season – some think it’s dead-on, some think their low-balling potential over experience, and some think it might as well be a quarterback ranking list. The Jets came in at 20, which many believe is fair;...
Is Andrew Benintendi Really The Answer For The Yankees?
With the trade deadline approaching in a couple of weeks, talks of who the Yankees should target have ramped up. One of the most popular candidates is Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Let’s take a deep dive to determine whether he would be worth the price to acquire.
FOCO Releases Pair of New Keith Hernandez New York Mets Bobbleheads
Keith Hernandez’s time in the big apple was one of incredible individual and team success, becoming one of his generation’s biggest icons. He took a perennial losing team all the way to the top of the baseball world, helping the Mets claim their second World Series Championship. After...
Why Zach Wilson Won’t Be The Next Sam Darnold
When Joe Douglas booted Sam Darnold for a slew of picks to take Zach Wilson 2nd overall, the reaction of many was, “here we go again with the Jets.” Including the Jets’ own base. When Mike Maccagnan took Darnold 3rd overall, they knew that his sporadic recklessness...
Underrated: Ike Hilliard
I’ve done a series of these blogs throughout the season, and this player is a bit different than the other ones I have done. Rodney Hampton and Leonard Marshall were both very good players who made Pro-Bowls and received prestigious awards. The player I’ll be discussing today, Ike Hilliard, never really did that. But I think 1 thing’s for sure:
Times Are Changing at Citi Field
For the last five years, and for most of the seasons since Citi Field opened, enthusiasm and excitement have faded away by the second half of the schedule. But in 2022, there is a new sense of anticipation and energy around the ballpark. It starts when you step off the...
How Many of the Giants Draft Picks Have a Chance to Start?
Training Camp is mere weeks away, and it has gotten me thinking about the role that some of the rookies will be playing this year. Back in April, the Giants selected 11 new players that will have a chance to compete to make the team. But some of these rookies will have a chance to have a much larger role on the team, with some even getting the chance to start.
Giants 2022 Position Outlook: Wide Receiver
Is there another position on the 2022 NY Giants roster that is more of a question mark than Wide Receiver? I don’t think so. Wide Receivers accounted for just five (5) touchdowns in 2021. Even the Offensive Line is more settled than the most critical skill position group on the team.
The Success of New York City Sports Is Cranking Up the Pressure For The Jets
Sports are better when there are great teams. Sports are great when specific teams do great. History suggests that the NBA is better when the Knicks, Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics are competing for a title – historic brands with iconic histories, logos that everyone can recognize with no shortage of great players to associate them with. The MLB is more noteworthy at the lunch table and around the office when big-time names like the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox are at the top of the leaderboard. When they do well, baseball does well.
