Karma & Chaos: Red Bulls Fall to FC Cincinnati
Snatching defeat from the hands of victory. The New York Red Bulls had points against league leading FC Cincinnati handed to them on a silver platter. A questionable first half penalty kick put RBNY ahead in harrison. But two second half goals showed luck, and karma, swing both ways. Cincy got away with the 2-1 win after a stoppage time goal from Obinna Nwobodo.
Carmona & VAR Give Red Bulls Big Win Over New England
The New York Red Bulls looked like a complete team at multiple points on Saturday night. A well tuned midfielder moved the ball around the New England Revolution for much of the first half. But despite playing the final half hour up a man, the team needed two bailouts to come away with three points. Wikelman Carmona scored the tie breaking goal in the 85th minute as his team earned a crucial 2-1 victory at Red Bull Arena.
NYCFC is Running in Place
Do you ever wonder what a hamster is thinking when they spend a good portion of their lives running on the hamster wheel going nowhere? Well, watching NYCFC this season is like watching soccer being played on a hamster wheel because quite honestly, NYCFC is running in place right now at this point of the season. Sitting at 5-7-10 in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, the Pigeons again are their own worst enemy at times, and watching these matches leads me to believe that NYCFC is running in place.
Red Bulls Advance in Gold Cup; Both Burke & Tolkin Join Teams in Knockout Round
The 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup is entering the knockout round. The weekend the Quarterfinals will have the eight remaining teams face off around the country. Despite half the competitive field being eliminated, both New York Red Bull players still remain in the competition. The RBNY presence at the Gold Cup...
Does NYCFC Believe in Itself Anymore?
Ho-hum, another MLS season just trodding along and where is NYCFC in the mix? Well, if you’re excited about watching a race to the Eastern Conference bottom, then the Pigeons are really doing a great job this season. The biggest and real question that needs to be asked does NYCFC believe in itself anymore?
Gotham FC well represented in the World Cup
It’s hard to believe that this summer will herald another Women’s World Cup but the stage is set and Gotham FC will be well-represented in this international challenge. Despite much of the drama (or lack thereof) from the USMNT performance this past year in the World Cup, the USWNT promises to deliver yet another top-notch performance as the American women continually are standard bearers for global women’s soccer.
The Giants 2022 Draft Class will have a Huge Impact on the 2023 Season
With the Giants overachieving in 2022, the expectation in 2023 is to at least get to the point they did last year. In order to accomplish this goal and then some, the Giants sophomore class needs to take the next step. While this is far from the only thing that needs to happen for the Giants to have success, it is certainly one of the main things. Last year the Giants, drafted 11 players. Of those 11 players, 9 of them have the chance to play a significant role on the 2023 Giants.
Knicks Round Up: Where Things Stand 46 Days Into the Offseason
It’s been 46 days since the Knicks 2022-2023 season came to an end, and 15 days since the offseason began for the entire NBA as the NBA Finals came to an end. It’s been a relatively quiet offseason for New York so far, with draft night going by without the team acquiring a pick and new acquisitions being limited to a couple two-way signings. However the Knickerbockers have made some solid steps to moving forward so far this offseason, and will look to make more soon. 46 days into the Knicks offseason, let’s take a look at where things stand and what could come next.
Can NYCFC end their Winless Skid?
Every sports season starts with an air of perpetual optimism and NYCFC entered the 2023 MLS season with every bit of that “new year” optimism only to watch it vanish into thin air. At the summer starting point, the Pigeons are barely holding onto staying somewhat relevant in the MLS Eastern Conference and fans are no doubt clamoring for a simple answer: can NYCFC end their winless skid?
Which Online Sportsbooks are Legal in New York?
New Yorkers had to wait a relatively long time to be able to place online sports wagers within the boundaries of the state, but the coast was finally clear in January 2022, when mobile betting became officially legal in The Big Apple. New York became the 18th US state to...
Red Bulls Survive First Half Bender, Draw Charlotte 2-2
The New York Red Bulls played one of the worst first halves of soccer on Wednesday at Red Bull Arena. Charlotte FC went into the break leading by two thanks to two Ben Bender goals. No RBNY strikers or midfielders seemed visible during plays. It’s impressive that the second half was a completely different story. Substitute Dante Vanzeir and Cameron Harper both found the net within a ten minute span. The Bulls left the game with a point and still trail the playoff line by three points.
The Approach that Led to the Most Interesting Group on the Giants
Heading into the NFL offseason, it was clear that the Giants needed a number 1 receiver. The only issue is that the receivers on the open market didn’t exactly fit that mold. Quite frankly, if they were a true number 1 receiver already, they wouldn’t be on the open market. Instead of overspending on a receiver, Joe Schoen took a different approach. This approach led to what will undoubtedly be the most interesting position group to watch come training camp.
Zach Prince Joins RBNY Coaching Staff
A head coach for New Mexico United has stepped down and is now on staff with the New York Red Bulls. Sounds familiar right? Former NMU manager Zach Prince was officially announced as an assistant coach yesterday. Considering the fact he’ll once again be working with Troy Lesesne, who he’s shared both the field and sideline with, the move is no real shock.
Gotham FC: Keep the Foot on the Gas Pedal
Ah yes, summer is finally here and the days are getting longer and warmer. What better way to celebrate the arrival of the annual warm-up than by watching Gotham FC keep their collective foot on the gas pedal and keep this season going in the right direction? Despite a bit of a drop from first place in the NWSL, Gotham FC is still in the thick and thin of this league and currently sits with a 5-3-3 overall record, only two points out of first place. Interestingly enough, playing in the home confines of Red Bull Arena hasn’t been a boon to Gotham FC as they only have a 1-2-1 record at home. However, this squad is dangerous on the road and they have garnered a much stronger 4-1-2 record as the visiting side in their NWSL travels.
NYCFC: Just Find a Way to Win
It’s not rocket science nor is it any secret. NYCFC is basically terrible this season so far and how do they pull themselves out of the mire at the bottom rungs of the Eastern Conference? It’s simple: find a way, any way, to win. Finger-pointing and the Blame...
Grading Each Position Room for the Giants Offense
With just 86 days remaining until the Giants week 1 matchup with Dallas on Sunday Night Football, it’s officially time to start getting excited about football season again. With that said, here is a grade for each position room on the Giants offense as the roster stands now. Quarterbacks:...
Best Pitchers to Ever Play for the New York Yankees
For over 100 years, the New York Yankees have been one of the most successful and iconic franchises in Major League Baseball history. While this success is undoubtedly attributed to contributions from many different players on both offense and defense, one position that has stood out during this impressive run is pitching.
Saquon Barkley is Not Happy – Here’s Why
Saquon Barkley hosted his annual football camp this past weekend. And for the first time, since the Giants placed the franchise tag on him, he spoke to the media. He was direct and expressed confidence in his negotiating team but didn’t mince words on the state of the negotiations. Saquon let the media know he was not happy.
NYCFC Looking for the First Road Win
That’s right, NYCFC is still looking for their first road win of the season. This isn’t a typographical error but a statement of how the Pigeons’ season has unfolded, and we are only into early June. With another road stretch on the way, NYCFC is looking to find a way to turn around what’s rapidly becoming a dumpster fire of a season.
The 2023 New York Mets: June Stat Pack
To this point of the 2023 MLB season, frustration has enveloped baseball in Queens. The New York Mets have failed to meet high expectations so far, hovering near the .500 mark with a massive payroll. This week’s sweep at Atlanta seemed to be a low point of the early season,...
