Based in Baker Tilly’s Uniondale office, Ellen Labita is the firm’s not-for-profit professional practice partner and the team leader of the New York not-for-profit/healthcare services practice. In 2024, Labita was appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s not-for-profit advisory committee.

Labita has more than 35 years of experience in public accounting, which includes multinational, national and regional firm experience. She concentrates exclusively on providing assurance services to nonprofit organizations, including their single audits, cost reports and employee benefit plans. Her broad range of clients include various categories of behavioral health/human services organizations, including organizations in the developmentally disabled, special education, mental health and HUD spaces. She also services foundations, educational institutions and membership and religious organizations.

Actively involved in the professional and nonprofit communities, Labita serves as conference vice chair for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ not-for-profit organizations committee. She is a board member of the Long Island Association and an accounting advisory board member for Adelphi University, her alma mater. She is also a past treasurer of North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center and a past president of Girls Inc. of Long Island.

Labita shares her knowledge with others by providing training seminars for industry groups and clients, and through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ National Conference and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Labita has been recognized among the Top 50 Women in Business on Long Island by LIBN, in 2009, 2012 and 2018. She was also named to LIBN’s Power 25 list of top accountants in 2021.
