Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged voters to vote against Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), recalling his pulling a fire alarm.

Bowman is facing the toughest primary of any progressive House "Squad" Democrat, with polls showing him down by double digits. The gap is largely due to his critical position against Israel during the war in Gaza. Cuomo urged primary voters to vote against him on Tuesday, hitting him on his Israel stance and past fire alarm controversy.

"Jamaal Bowman should pull the fire alarm again because he is going to be smoked by @LatimerforNY today," he said in a post on X. "The message is clear: anti-semitism in any and all forms will not be tolerated in New York. And you can't call yourself a progressive without making progress. Vote!"

Bowman stirred controversy in 2023 when he pulled a fire alarm during a government funding vote, causing Congress to be evacuated. Though he was censured, no House Ethics investigation ensued. He said he thought the fire alarm was a lever that would open the door he was trying to get through.

Largely due to the $15 million thrown in by United Democracy Project, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's super PAC, Bowman's primary race has become the most expensive House race in history, clocking in at $25 million and counting. AIPAC set its sights on Bowman after he became openly critical of Israel during its war with Hamas.

High-profile figures such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) came to Bowman's aid, participating in rallies before the election, but these failed to move the polls significantly in his direction.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer, 70, is set to defeat Bowman by a significant margin on Tuesday.
