Grow These New York Plants for a Monarch Paradise
It's Monarch butterfly season in New York State, and one simple decision could make your backyard a haven for one of the most famous insects in North America. It turns out there's a special secret if you want to attract monarchs.
Why Do New York Rescue Animals Have Dots On Their Heads?
I know I'm not the only New Yorker who follows closely when baby animals are rescued by wildlife organizations. Recently, however, I noticed something strange. It started when I saw a video of the smallest opossum I had ever seen. At first it looked like it had an injury (below)... Luckily, it turned out not to be a wound but something else all together: a painted dot on its head. It's an interesting trend that happens with nearly every baby rescue animal across the country.

A Blisteringly Active Month for New York State Law Enforcement
No one can say for sure what it was, maybe it was the seemingly the never-ending heat wave combined with overwhelming humidity or maybe it was some other extemporaneous factors, but the point remains that the month of July while not technically not over yet, was a wildly active month for members of New York State's law enforcement.
New York: You’ve Never Seen a Possum This Small in Your Life
There's small, and then there's unbelievably tiny. A animal rescue organization recently shared a video that has taken the internet by storm of an opossum baby (called a joey) so small that it's barely larger than the grape it's trying to eat. Opossums might be the most misunderstood creature in...

T-H-C ya later! Several high-level staffers at New York’s cannabis regulator are calling it quits — after Gov. The departures take with them years of institutional knowledge dating back to the start of New York’s medical marijuana program — and comes after Hochul dumped OCM’s head, Christopher Alexander, earlier this year. Former staffers said the governor’s...
How activists are manipulating New York’s transgender law
Last week, Elon Musk announced that he would move the headquarters of both X and SpaceX from California to Texas, in protest of a new bill signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Senate Bill 107, or the SAFETY Act, passed mostly along party lines, will make California the first state in the US to prohibit school districts from requiring staff to inform parents if their child adopts a different gender identity. The law will also “authorize a court to take temporary jurisdiction because a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care.” Additional provisions prevent courts from using a...
