A Newark woman accused of killing her father with a knife in Newton Township is set to stand trial in December, court records show.

April Neagos, 47, faces a murder charge after deputies accuse her of stabbing her father, Nick Neagos, 75, multiple times in the neck and torso Aug. 10 at his Newton Township home before stabbing herself and leaving. Nick Neagos died at the scene and authorities took April Neagos to a Columbus-area hospital after they allege they found her walking near the home on Parana Drive after the stabbings.

Court records show prosecutors charged April Neagos with murder Aug. 12, and a grand jury indicted her Aug. 21.

A Licking County Common Pleas judge set April Neagos’ bond at $1 million last month, court records show. She pleaded not guilty Sept. 17, and her trial date is set for Dec. 10.

April Neagos is next scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a pretrial conference with her court-appointed attorney.
