Residents and employees of Juniper Village at Newark recently held a luau and pig roast to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event was held in commemoration of The Longest Day, which is held annually on the summer solstice and is dedicated to battling the darkness of Alzheimer’s and all other dementias through fundraising efforts. The funds raised will be devoted to advancing the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Attendees embraced the theme by donning colorful leis, crowns and Hawaiian shirts, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. The duo Rick & Connie provided a musical backdrop to the festivities.

The menu included roasted pig, sweet corn, watermelon, and a variety of Hawaiian-themed refreshments.

“Juniper is thrilled with the success of the luau and the wonderful way to see the Newark community come together to support such an important cause,” said a spokesperson for the Barksdale Road senior living facility.
